Spring News - 2022

Dear Town Duck friends!

Brrrr…..is it Spring yet?!?! Today feels every bit of a blustery, sunny Winter Day, but here we are, nearly turning the calendar in just a few days to April. For the first time in quite a while, I feel like I have my bearings just slightly more on what month of the year it is (days can still run together!) Routines have seemingly returned in many ways…children are regularly attending school, businesses are open, travel has been more manageable, and perhaps one of my favorite and most cherished returns, people are getting together and breaking bread—finding time to catch up over long suppers and attending parties to celebrates birthdays, babies and couples. Just last week, a picture-perfect day in the Piedmont was met on the course of the Warrenton Point to Point Races. How fun to see tailgates and cheer abound!

Speaking of, the shop is really in good shape for making your Spring gatherings just right.

Tailgating—some super chic AND functional picnic totes, baskets and coolers are a good place to start. I especially love the collection of melamine picnic plates in well-known patterns. Add some block print linens in from both Furbish Studio and Pomegranate, grab Caspari cocktail napkins, Sip Sip Hooray travel cups and you are nearly there! Head over to select some wine (we can help with that!) from our extensive collection. While it continues to grow, we are committed to procuring interesting and new finds. The same can be said for our pantry department and cheese counter. Töst Sparkling White Tea, Cranberry & Ginger is a non-alcoholic beverage great to mix up your favorite cocktail (or just add some Saratoga!) Bourbon Barrel Foods offer a great Bourbon Smoked Spice Snack Mix and I’m really loving Crunchy Quicos from Spain. The Virginia Chutney company has just delivered a refresh of favorite chutney’s as well as their Preservation Society Red Pepper Jelly. Really excited to have met Jonno of Jonno’s Small Batch Worcestershire Sauce--a great addition now on the shelf. From his Crozet, Virginia kitchen to your table, it’s perfect for everything from Bloody Mary’s to steaks, chops and BBQs. Finish it all off with a Tony Chocolonely chocolate bar!

Ladies, the Mer Sea collection (which began with the quintessential Travel Wrap) has expanded to comfortable slub tees, tops and dresses. Also really love the new Cleobella line which showcases easy, beautiful Indian-inspired patterns in a variety of styles. Printfresh Pajamas are replenished in some great new patterns, and I just placed an order with Consuela, so be on the lookout for really fun and bright bags to arrive soon.

It makes me so happy to hear couples are tying the knot and having the opportunity to celebrate with family and friends---in person! Gifts from Beatriz Ball (polish-free aluminum), Casafina (Portuguese porcelain), Terrafirma (Brooklyn-based ceramics), and Calaisio (rattan serving pieces) are great options.

Freshen up the house with one of Tatine’s lovely candles. Having just undergone rebranding, they have added some new fragrances to their line, all done in beautiful packaging. Soaps and lotions from Panier des Sens literally greet you at the front door. It smells like Spring over here!

With Easter around the corner and Spring gatherings in bloom, pick up some festive Hester and Cook. This line always does such a beautiful job in their packaging and tablescapes. We have paper table runners, placemats, place cards and party crackers to set your Spring tables (think daffodils, bunnies, and boxwood). Send a sweet Spring note from Good Girl Millie greeting cards and light a lovely Seda France bunny candle (also makes a great hostess gift for Easter).

As always, simply too much to write. Come by and visit us…we’d love to show you around :-)
