December News - 2022

Morning, Town Duck,

Yes, it’s been ages. I hope you’ve been able to keep up with the comings and goings of the Town Duck through visits or by following our social media. I try to post nearly every day with new additions and updates but am long overdue for a little newsletter action. So here we go!

The traditional and long-adored holiday food table is out! We have all your nostalgic favorites from lebkuchen to Asbach cordials, shortbread to Mozart Kugel (and so much more in between). While last year in early December we were unsure if supply would be available to replenish the items, this year it appears it will be a significantly higher cost. Come get what you can’t do without before stock runs out. I don’t anticipate a replenishment this go around. Two favorites (Baum’s Fried Pecans and Three Sister’s Cheese Straws) are offered in great gift tins—perfect for gifting. Runamok maple syrups and Elia’s Olive Oil Cake Mixes are also delectable hostess and teacher gifts.

Along those lines, we have an assortment of advent calendars, boxed holiday greeting cards, giftwrap and great paper products for entertaining. PLENTY of festive cocktail napkins and guest towels have arrived and we have taper candles in a variety of colors and heights. Oh! The best Christmas ornaments (caviar & sardines, woodland creatures and other whimsical creations—we even have a rubix cube!) are going fast. If you shopped with us last holiday season, you’ll remember the bright array of deer heads…. they’re back (with minis to boot!) Lastly, come check out and grab yourself a Holiball or two. These 18-30” ornaments are such a fun gift…can be tethered outdoors on the lawn or hang on your porch. These easily work for indoor decorating as well. You may have seen them on Shark Tank!

We are especially loving Bella Cucina this time of year. If you aren’t familiar with this artisanal gourmet food line, you will want to come see their lineup. Put on the map for their artichoke lemon pesto, we have an assortment of several pestos, olive oil, savory salts, crackers & flatbreads, biscotti & cookies, and pasta & pizza sauce. I think they make the best gift for a hostess or the foodie in your life and the packaging is stunning.

For someone who seems to have it all and loves the kitchen, a pair of towels from Geometry, Flour Sack or Garnier-Thibaut fit the bill. Rivsalt, a Swedish salt company, does some really cool gifts to go (salt blocks, salt/pepper with microplane sets, etc).  Olive wood serving pieces, charcuterie boards and utensils are another surefire addition to your kitchen and can be used so versatilely in entertaining.

Speaking of entertaining, the Estelle line of glassware out of Charleston, South Carolina is a real showstopper. From coupes to water goblets, I can tell you from my own sets that not only do they make the most beautiful table, but they are durable and over the top fun! Match pewter from Italy shows us a handsome collection of frames and traditional serving pieces for table and bar that are, in fact a match for the distinguished lady or gentleman on your list. Lastly, Bassompierre candles are just divine! This Dutch candle line not only delivers on the fragrant scents, but the packaging is superb. Six scents available.

The super fun Printfresh pajamas continue to be so popular. We especially love the new “Foxes” and “Must Love Dogs” patterns. Another new line to check out is the sweet and demure Domi—there’s even a long sleeve kimono top and pant set.  Who doesn’t love a new pair of pajamas?! Bright Consuela and classic Meanwhile back on the Farm handbags are another great option for all the gals you are shopping for.

Chan Luu Jewelry is timeless and offers a dainty collection of freshwater pearls in earrings and necklaces. Susan Bounds earrings continue to be a hit for all ages. I love that this was one of the very first local lines to arrive when I purchased the shop and it’s been so fun for both of us to grow in business! If you have a festive event or holiday party to attend, these earrings are the ticket!

We can continue to offer fish weekly with great interest. As we move into our holiday season, look for updates on Friday offerings. We plan to offer over the next few Fridays leading up to the holidays pending how busy we are.

We’ve had some great weekend wine tastings…. weekend in Bordeaux, Italian showstoppers and Washington State J.Bookwalter wine to name a few. We continue to work with great reps who are maintaining fun and interesting portfolios. It’s worth a trip in alone for some wine and seeing what is new.

Anne is at it again crafting her fab gift baskets. The orders have already started to roll in, so be sure to place your order prior to the December 20th deadline.

And finally, in the spirit of the holiday season, a note of real gratitude for being our loyal customers, visitors, and friends. It continues to be a labor of love to work daily in this space and I very much look forward to what 2023 has in store.

Enjoy these next few weeks with family, friends, and neighbors. In a world and time when much seems uncertain, I hope the magic of this Season is deeply felt and reverberates generously to each and every one of you.
